At the Forest Learning Center you will learn about nature's destructive and regenerative powers.

You can begin your tour with a walk through a lifelike forest. At the Eruption Chamber, you can learn about recovery and reforestation, then sit inside the cockpit of a helicopter for a video tour of forests at Mount St Helens today and how forest resources are being conserved for the future.

Outside, you'll find spectacular views of the mountain, the avalanche debris flow, wildlife, and replanted forests. Kids will have fun at a volcano-themed playground.

The center is located 33 miles east of Interstate 5 on Highway 504 at North Fork Ridge. Hours at 10 to 7 daily, May through October.
Charles W. Bingham Forest Learning Center
This visitor center is sponsored jointly by Weyerhaeuser, the Washington Department of Transportation, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Visitors will learn about forests and forestry management. A significant amount of the forested land in the blast zone was owned by Weyerhaeuser; exhibits at the center address the timber salvage and forest recovery activity that Weyerhaeuser has conducted since the eruption. Other attractions include multimedia presentations, an elk viewpoint, a volcano-themed playground, a forest trail, and a gift shop.
